2 Button Non Display IP Phones.

So the salesman sold a couple of those cheap 2 button non-display IP phones to the customer for lobby and break room locations. You need to hard configure these phones cause no one will be logging in at them and you’d also like to make sure they work. So how do you manually configure an IP Phone that does not have a display????? Click here to see how.

Peer to Peer CCIS

Here is what I call my Mini-Manual as its too long to be called a Cheat Sheet. Basic CCIS programming so you can connect to any other NEC system that supports Peer 2 Peer CCIS. This includes other SV8100’s and SV8300, NEAX IPS, NEAX IPX, SV8500, and SV7000. Also included are instructions on how to program a bunch of CCIS features commonly used in a CCIS network.

NAPT

With the release of R3 there is also the NAT feature supported for IP Phones. It is NOT for CCIS or Netlink only the IP Phones.
In general NAT allows the customer to use there existing public IP address on there network to be shared with the 8100 for IP Phones that are connected across the internet at remote locations. Also with the R3 firmware in the IP phone NAPT can be used at the remote site allowing the 1 public IP address to be shared with one or multiple IP phones as well as toher network equipment.

What is SIP?

Here are a few notes I put together to help describe the SIP protocol as it opertains to NEC telephony. Hope this clears up some questions about this protocol. I will follow up soon with the sheet being expanded to cover trouble shooting the protocol using WireShark and breaking down the SIP packets to raw form to see how a call is set up, maintained, and torn down.

SIP Trunks

SIP trunks to a SIP trunk provider are more popular than ever.
There are many assignments in the IPKII for this application.
This is a basic guide on what they are, what they do and how to make it work with the IPKII.

IP-CCIS to NEAX 2000

This is IP-CCIS from the PVA card to the IPTB card on the NEAX 2000.
Remember whenever possible always test back to back before implementation.
At time of writing this the most up to date versions for the PVA card are….

Service Pack SP01X
Firmware 1.59T7 for IP_CCIS or 1.02T10 for the Combo card.

You will need the Combo card if you wish to use fax over CCIS and then you will need a 2.0 license and software on the CPU to support the PVA combo card.
